Abdel is a key member of the commercial litigation team. He has a particular focus on complex cross-border disputes and is an expert in Private International Law. Abdel has extensive experience in enforcement of foreign (arbitral) judgments or awards (especially for or against sovereigns) as well as in obtaining interim reliefs and protective measures or resisting to them. Abdel also advises on several corporate law issues, including shareholder disputes and directors' liability, and regularly litigates (in the Dutch and English language) before the Dutch courts, including the Netherlands Commercial Court (the NCC) and the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. Abdel regularly publishes in scientific journals on Private International Law issues.

Recent matters that Abdel worked on include the representation of:
• Pharmaceutical Research Associates Group B.V. in proceedings before the Netherlands Commercial Court concerning alleged claims in connection with PRA’s clinical trials of a synthetic protein aimed to offer treatment for certain diseases.
• a Big Four accountancy firm in a dispute revolving around alleged mistakes in the audit of financial statements that were misleading because of significant overstatements due to an alleged widespread accounting fraud.
• national holding company, Samruk-Kazyna JSC, in multiple recognition and execution proceedings pending (in the Netherlands) involving assets of significant value.
• a broker in a Dutch class action on alleged manipulation of interest rate benchmark.
• a stock exchange organization in multiple proceedings against a member regarding alleged claims for damages in connection with the way that the stock exchange organization dealt with the amendment derivative contracts in view of an announced corporate action.
