As of 2023, Xheni is a a research associate at Ghent University for the ECOFLEX project, which explores smart energy management for E-mobility charging infrastructure and energy communities. The project focuses on using technologies like heat pumps and battery storage to provide flexibility for grid balancing and security of supply, enabling cost-efficient and decentralised grid operation.
